So I read "The Hobbit" the wonderful book that it is, and have been avoiding all media related to the movie so I could paint a clear untainted image of what i was imagining of Smaug while reading. Usually when I watch a movie, my imagination is replaced by the movie's version, and hence I can't remember what I used to envision for Harry Potter.

He's described in the book as having a "diamond waistcoat" from laying on his treasure for so long, Not many of the original illustrations depict that though..
